Destiny of Three Page 15
The king smiled but shook his head. “I don’t think I’m supposed to have a mate. It has been a long time, and nothing has come of it.”
“Yes, she is coming.” Star had no idea why she felt that way; she just knew.
“I’ve always dreamed of having a mate, but unfortunately it hasn’t happened. I will keep my eyes open.” Sindrid winked, then smiled at her.
“Why don’t we clear up the mess in the front lobby and then get ourselves cleaned up and go to the Valentine’s Dance. I think we all need a break, and some dancing wouldn’t hurt either. It would be our honor, King Abner, if you would join us tonight for some fun, and then come back here as my guest for as long as you want. I have a penthouse on the top floor that has three bedrooms in it for you and some of your guards. We can find more rooms for the rest of them,” Larken suggested.
“Thank you. I’ll gladly pay you until I can have my home built here. I think it’s time for my wandering days to end, and for me put down some roots here. That is what Ne-ma suggested to me. She said my life was here now.” Sindrid shrugged. “Maybe she’s right.”
“Great news. If you’ll follow me I can show you to your rooms. I have some staff who can come in and help with the cleaning.” Larken leaned over and kissed his mate.
“Thank you for your help.” Jansen looked down and blew out his breath. “I don’t know what we would have done if you hadn’t shown up.”
Sindrid got up from the table and stood in front of Jansen. “I think Regis would have died, because all the Powerful Three needed to do was grasp each other’s hands, and the power you generated together would have blown him up along with his men. You see, the power is within all of you, but together it becomes something nobody ever wants to see. And it would have probably blown the whole roof and side of the building off too.” He pointed at her eyes. “I see that your body has already started to change. Your eyes are violet now.”
Star ran over to the mirror and looked. Just like the king said, her eyes were violet. Her mates came up behind her and smiled at her in the mirror.
“Beautiful as always,” Jansen commented.
She turned around and hugged them, swallowing past the huge lump in her throat. “I never want to be without you again,” Star said softly. She was scared that the world would be looking to them for answers, and she had none to give. Life had changed for her within the last month, but now every paranormal nation would be looking to them to make sure the balance between good and evil would work out, but how, she couldn’t tell.
“You never will be alone again. Let’s go take a hot bath,” Banks suggested moving his eyebrows up and down in a joking manner.
“Okay.” Star smiled. Even though she was scared, she was happy too.
Jansen drove them all back to the cabin to rest for a few minutes and then get ready to go to the party. It had already started, but these dances went on all night long. They had some time to rest before they went to the convention center.
“You look tired, my love.” Jansen’s voice was soft as he spoke to Star.
“I am, to be honest; and scared. What the king said is bothering me. He pretty much said that we would have to keep the peace between everyone. How? How do I do that, when I can’t even find that between us sometimes?”
Lightly, Jansen skimmed his fingers over her face. She closed her eyes to his touch. Her mates soothed her like nobody could. Her adrenaline dropped the moment he touched her skin. His touch brought every emotion to the surface, as the fear of what had almost taken place broke free. Hot tears streamed down her face until she couldn’t stand it anymore and fell into his arms.
Jansen held her close, then motioned to Banks, who quickly started taking her clothes off. He knew she was thinking that all the stress would be placed on her shoulders, but as one of her mates he would be helping her along the way and she needed to know that.
Banks had turned the water on in the bathtub and got in; he held his hands up as Jansen placed their crying mate into his arms. He made quick work of his clothes then climbed in opposite of them. He waited until she stopped crying before he spoke.
“I know you feel like the whole world is on your shoulders, but that’s not how it’s going to be. We’re your mates, and as your mates we’ll be there to help you along the way in this journey. What the king meant was that we would all do this together.” Jansen picked up her foot and started massaging it. She finally moaned and leaned back into Banks. “Together, baby.”
Star opened her eyes and whispered, “Together.”
Banks eased his hands around and massaged her breasts. His hard body pressed to hers. All she wanted to do was feel her mates. Nothing else mattered right now. His hands felt so warm as they scraped against her nipples, then moved lower until she could feel Jansen’s finger slowly slide inside of her.
She gasped and her head fell back against his chest when the orgasm rushed forward and caught her off guard. Star grabbed her mate’s legs and pushed out, grinding herself against Jansen’s hand. Banks didn’t waste time with formalities; he picked her up and slid her on top of him. “Ride me, baby.” His raw words reverberated against her neck.
Slowly, she slid down until his size stopped her from going any further. “Are you okay?” Banks asked.
“Yes, but I need to move.” Star lifted herself up then slowly lowered herself back down until all she could feel was pure pleasure. The intensity of his teeth scraping against his mark drove her to move faster. “Oh, that feels so good. Do that again.”
Banks grabbed her by the hair and pulled her head to the side then scraped his teeth over his mark again. “You like that, baby?”
Star could only nod until he bit down over, throwing her into another orgasm. Her body wanted more, and she lifted herself up and down, going faster.
She wanted both of her mates. She opened her eyes and watched as Jansen stroked his cock while he watched her and Banks together. “Stand up,” she ordered her mate. She wanted him too, and she was taking charge.
Jansen smiled at her demand, but stood up in front of her. He was beautifully tanned everywhere. No one could compare to her mates. They were pieces of fine art, she thought as he stood tall in front of her. She was beyond ready when she leaned forward and took him deep inside her mouth. Pulling out, she licked the head of his cock like a sucker until it drove him crazy. Grabbing her hair, Jansen slowly pushed himself inside of her throat driving her the way he liked it. She didn’t realize just how much she liked it when they took charge.
“You like that, don’t you baby?” Reaching down, she grasped Jansen’s balls then rubbed them until he grunted. He couldn’t hold on any longer. This woman knew exactly where to touch him when he release inside her mouth.
She continued to move up and down on Banks until he grabbed her around the waist and pounded inside of her.
“Yes, harder,” she begged. She loved every minute of their lovemaking until they both came together, screaming out each other names.
Star relaxed as she leaned back against Banks. Her body felt spent and sated for the first time in a long, long time. It was her mates who’d made her feel like she was loved for the first time in her life. She could barely keep her eyes open until Jansen got out.
“Do you want to go to the dance or stay home and rest?” Jansen asked as he dried off.
“I want to go and celebrate. We need to have some fun. It’s been such a long time since I actually danced with a man. Plus, I want to go to support Lilly. She needs all of us there tonight. For some reason I feel we should all be there.”
“I don’t dance,” Banks informed her.
“Tonight you can just move your feet and hold me, then.” She twisted around, staring at him until he kissed her on the nose. “Okay. I can stand there and hold you.”
She and Jansen both laughed.
“I just need some food, and maybe some orange juice, and then I’ll feel like new,” she admitted in a soft voice.
“I’ll take care of the food and…”

“I know what to do with our mate,” Banks said, then got out and dried off then picked her up and sat her down on the side of the cabinet. “Take care of her.”
Star smiled and rubbed her head against his chest.
“What are you doing?” Banks asked.
“Making sure my scent is all over you. I know what’s going to happen when those single women see you two. I want them to know that you’re taken.” Star continued to rub her scent all over him. When she looked up, Banks had his eyes closed with a big smile on his face.

“Are we going to stay here long?” Joseph asked the king.
“Yes, I’m tired of looking. I feel this is where we’re needed the most. The Powerful Three need our help, and I know the most about them. Start looking for some land close to where they live. I want to be near them in case they need me,” Sindrid answered.
“Yes, your majesty.” Joseph quietly walked away.
Sindrid wondered if his guards were lonely. They had to be, just like him. They needed to find their mates too. Freedom, Colorado was as good a place as anywhere, he thought.
Maybe the little one was right and his mate would be near. It was a long shot, but he needed to be here with the Powerful Three anyway. Regis Yulson was only the beginning. They would be forever bombarded with powerful men wanting to use their power for their own greed.
Knock, knock, knock. Joseph answered the door and allowed Larken inside. “We’re all going to the convention center together if you would like to join us.”
“Yes, that would be perfect.” Sindrid picked up his sports coat and put it on. “Joseph, I think only a few of you will be needed tonight. The others can come if they want to, or stay here at the lodge and rest.”
“Yes, Your Majesty. I think they all want to come and see what this place has to offer.” Joseph smiled back at the king.
“I thought they would.” Sindrid chuckled along with Larken as they walked out the door.
“Well don’t you all look good enough to eat.” Jansen and the other mates growled. “Just an expression.” Sindrid smiled back at Joseph who rode in the SUV with him.
“I understand from the pamphlet you gave me that over one hundred paranormals have met their mates here at the dance,” Sindrid said.
“We hope that by the end of this dance there will be more,” Larsen answered.
“You may find your mate too.” Star noted.
“That would be nice.” Sindrid knew it was unlikely, but he didn’t want to sound like he was being too pessimistic.
“Nice convention center,” Joseph said.
“We built it three years ago. We mainly have concerts here, but since the dance has outgrown the lodge we thought this would be better to have them instead,” Larken answered as he pulled into his private parking space. “It’s party time, folks!”
Sindrid looked around the parking lot at all the Valentine’s decorations and got a funny felling in his heart. Something was up; the back of his neck tingled. He scanned the parking lot for any type of danger, but he didn’t see anything. He followed the group inside and smiled as shifters stopped in front of cut-out hearts getting their pictures taken. He inhaled and smelled wildflowers. He loved wildflowers, with all their beautiful colors and spicy scents.
“You okay?” Joseph asked.
“Yes, why do you ask?”
“Your senses seemed to have heightened when we entered the building,” Joseph answered, scanning the area.
“Just all the fun in the air,” Sindrid remarked with a smile.
Larken opened the door to go inside where the dance was being held. Sindrid couldn’t help but smile at all the people dancing.
“Do you always draw this much attention?” Jonas asked. Sindrid looked around and could spot the vampires who were among the crowd. They were staring at him. Most were just babies, and had never seen him.
“They realize their king has arrived,” Reece replied.
“Hey, big brother. About time you guys arrived. I thought for a minute you weren’t coming,” Lilly spoke loudly as the music blared.
Suddenly, it hit him all at once. He turned toward her voice, her scent, and then he saw her. It was her: his mate was here. Sindrid felt like a Mack truck had hit him.
She was a wolf shifter, young, but most of all she was the most beautiful creature he’d ever seen. He had to have her now.
Lilly turned just in time to see a hulk of a man stalk toward her. He seemed to float on air until he stood in front of her. “Hey,” she said when he didn’t say anything.
“Lilly.” Larken pulled her closer to him. The growl and the man’s glowing eyes got the attention of every vampire in the convention center.
“Don’t touch her,” Sindrid growled.
“Hey buddy, I don’t know who you are, but my brother is the Alpha here and he can do what he wants. You need to back off and get out of my space.” Lilly pointed her finger at him. “Back off, now.”
Sindrid looked down at her tiny finger as she poked him in the chest. He smiled. Even her hands were tiny. “I can’t.”
“And why not?”
“Because you’re my mate,” Sindrid announced.

Chapter One
“Tell me where you came from.”
It always started this way. First the question, then the excruciating pain as the electric paddles were held against her temples. The smell of her burning flesh. Then they would take the rubber bit from her mouth and ask another question. Another question she couldn’t answer.
“How many of you are there?”
She prayed to all the saints her mother taught her that this time she would pass out. It was the only thing to ever stop the questions. Stop
the pain.
“I don’t know!” she wailed, as the bit was shoved into her mouth. She squeezed her eyes so tight she saw stars before the shocking red flames took over her very being.
“Where did you come from? Where are the rest of you now?” They yanked the bit from her mouth, making her lip bleed.
“Just tell me what you want me to say…” her voice didn’t sound like her own. For hours or months, she wasn’t sure how long she begged them to tell her what they wanted her to answer. The paddles were again placed on her temples. Fire exploded behind her eyes and her teeth actually tore into the rubber bit.

She wasn’t strapped down. She stretched and it felt wonderful, until the pins and needles started. Where was she? She wanted to see if they noticed they forgot to buckle the straps. She tried to look around. She couldn’t. She was blind. They’d blinded her, the shock therapy had blinded her. Oh God. She trembled in horror for long moments before realizing it was her eyelids, they were swollen shut. She tried to touch them to make sure it was the only thing wrong but pain seared her arm.
Moving slowly to restore some circulation to her limbs, she realized she was lying on something soft. Rolling just a little so she wasn’t lying on her arm, she fell on to a hard cement floor. It hurt, it was cold, but at least she could move. Trying to stand up, she used the cot as leverage, but her legs wouldn’t support her.
She crawled and bumped her head against a wall. Using it as a guide she followed it around the small room with cement walls, basically a cell. Mostly empty except for the cot and the toilet, there was a tray with something that felt and smelled like bread and cheese. She wolfed down some of the food, but there wasn’t anything to drink. Crawling over to the toilet she flushed it, then greedily drank handfuls of water.
